Description
Ghost Heart (Cante Wanagi)
by Kirby Sattler
Ghost Heart is an introspective portrayal of a warrior of the Lakota Nation. The eagle feathers he wears represents the many war honors he has achieved and his face paint is painted in accordance with a personal vision. Ghost Heart stands against an empty landscape tightly wrapped in a trade blanket, symbolic of the loss of traditional lands and the continued constricting advance of the whites. A portrait of a proud past facing an uncertain future.
