In 1992 Julie Kramer Cole was nominated and selected to the Colorado Institute of Art Hall of Fame. Specializing in paintings, prints and posters about the American West.

An art major at Colorado State University and a graduate of the Colorado Institute of Art, Cole was initially drawn to the commercial art field, where her natural ability to portray anatomy was spotlighted, and she became a leading freelance fashion illustrator. In 1981, Cole turned to fine art. Working mainly in pastels, she developed the unique painting style that has become her signature.

Listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Kramer Cole has received national acclaim by winning numerous awards. Through marvelous and unusual composition, as well as a rich, natural artistic talent, Julie Kramer Cole is able to present the viewer with a slice of Western life that goes far beyond the expected or the ordinary. Her use of soft, clean colors lends purity to her art, and allows the drama and emotion to shine through in a serene and thoughtful way.

To experience the evocative images of Julie Kramer Cole is to experience magic. Her poetic visions delight the eye with their striking compositional style and clean, soft color palate. By capturing a moment in time, her pastels fuse memory, imagination, and true story, revealing allegorical slices of our Native American life and the lure of the legendary American West into a rich compositional arrangement.
Cole is a gifted, intuitive artist who stores each careful observation in her mind’s eye for future paintings; “As an artist,” she says, “I work many hours before ever putting a pencil to paper. Everything is remembered…from the legend on a historical marker to the vast sunsets of the Colorado Rockies.”
